Beachcat - Glad you brought that to my attention. The engine is stock and the only thing changed is the Prowler Pro Gears. The hood supports are chrome. I will have to get some pictures tomorrow during the day. Oh yes the battery is one of the gel type-I forgot what you call them. There are also some zenon blue flash rays projecting throught the grill when you turn on the lighting. Thanks for your input. ------------------ |

The BJ website says it sold for $28,600. Never made it on TV. They cut to a commercial just before it went across the block. |

I guess Rick should have taken the $30300 bid from Ebay. You would have thought it would go for more at BJ, but like everyone says you usually don't get your mod $ back. This message has been edited by garysss on 04-06-2012 at 02:25 PM |

That has to hurt!!!!!! I think the best way to get as much money out of the car. Is to keep all the original parts and put it as much back to original as possible. Than sell all the upgraded parts. Their are lots of parts that i would be interested in. Just a thought for next time. |

Hello All, Back from the auction and thought I would fill you all in on how it works if you have never been there. You consign (GIVE THEM $1000.00 with your car at NO RESERVE!!!) AND YOU PAY A SELLER FEE OF 8% as well. Unless it is agreed value of $150,000 or more. They reserve a spot for you in the auction, however if you are a nobody and do not deal with them in large number of cars you get the worst timeslot. There is a GALA EVENT on WEDNESDAY where they flash pictures of all of the cars on the huge screens for all of the bidders to preview before the auction. MINE WAS NEVER SHOWN . You do not get televised and I did not even get put in the book of all of the consigned cars, though they told me I was going to definitely be in the book. When I asked why I was not they said they have a updated version which nobody received till Saturday. (THEY WANT PEOPLE TO SAVE THEIR MONEY TILL SATURDAY WHEN THEY RUN ALL OF THEIR CARS) They had them they just did not pass any out. Secondly I was promised my car would be televised and there could be phone bidders who were watching from home. Obviously my car never made the speed channel when going on stage. They also rushed my car through so fast it was completely unbelieveable. (Of course you could tell when it was one of their cars they take their sweet time and talk it up forever. And believe me they run a huge number of their cars through. As far as the mods go don't worry about them, that was not the problem I seen many modded cars that they did run on Saturday which most were their cars on Saturday. They all took huge money because they were televised and in the book and in prime time on Saturday. If you noticed on Thursday the people you thought were bidders in the audience, most were not they were letting anyone in the bidder section on thursday and most were NOT QUALIFIED BIDDERS. Anyway lesson learned and I HIGHLY SUGGEST YOU NEVER CONSIGN A CAR WITH BARRETT JACKSON!!!!! This message has been edited by Prowl 36 on 04-07-2012 at 09:03 PM |

Rick, sorry for your bad experience with selling. No way your Prowler should have sold that low. I wonderered how they choose what cars get prime time. So if you put a reserve and it doesn't sell you still pay sellers fee right? |

...I have been invited to sit in the bidders section(front row) on slow days to make the bidder crowd look good on TV...some times during the day, too many cars, not enough bidders to buy... ...I've also been told of select cars being given bad time slots so they could be purchased cheap by "friends"... ...who knows, it's a gamble at best |

Sounds like you got screwed. If what your telling us is true, (& I believe you), did they put any of the facts you talked about in writing? If so you may want to talk to a lawyer or at least take them to small claims court. They might settle w/ you just to keep it out of the Press. |

I saw the black 99 prowler on T.V. friday that went for $23,000. Talk about a give away. The prowlers in Arizona went for much more. Seems like the buying price is $28,000-$32,000 for now. Keep the faith, in 5-10 years they will be higher, especially low mile originals. |

You had a nice car, but 1st time sellers are givin the hook line and sinker, they reel you in and give your car away. Yours should have sold for more, but a stock Prowler in most cases will bring more than custom. It is mainly dealers buying. I for one would NEVER sell any of my cars at a no reserve auction, and probably not with a reserve since it cost so much to run them thru, sell or not. If you figure the expenses of the auction sell somewhere else and be done with it. It cost more for TV time, many nice cars are commercial cars (I have driven for Mecum and drove several cars in thru on commercial) Many of the dealers have multible (some up to 100 cars or more) 5-10 not unusual and they just travel the auction circuit, buying and selling cars. At auction not only is BUYER BEWARE, but SELLER BEWARE TOO! Sorry Rick, you had a beautiful car |

had a discussion with topcat a few years back.you are correct as a newcomer you get treated rather poorly. topcat said that the more you deal with bj, the better treatment you receive such as more favorable time slots, etc. just a shame that the average person usually gets the shaft. |
