Wow, big price. I thought the value of these things might drop off as the car aged (and the owners). It is hard to imagine the newer owners are as enthusiastic as us veterans....but I guess they are. I am only missing the Financial Pond, have the other 3, one day I'll get it. Congrats to the buyer (and to the seller).

F.Y.I.

Looks like the person who won both PONDS is already selling the smaller 4" Pond on eBay.

I've bought from him before.

Looks like the side view mirror is missing on the drivers side, can't tell about the passenger side. Value of an incomplete collectible? Not criticizing just an observation. Good luck to the seller and congrats to the winner. A neat piece that seems to be traveling the country.

What gets me is when someone advertises an item as "No Reserve" then provides a minimum starting bid.

On Aug-16-12 at 21:08:13 PDT, seller added the following information:

NOTE: The drivers side mirror is missing from the Prowler "pond" model. The right mirror is present though. The rest of the car is intact, free of scratches and damage. I have a couple of these models and none of them have the mirrors present.

That small fact will have no bearing at all on their desirability or their collectibility. This Prowler car is over 15 years old. They were originally given out as presents and without a box. They were NEVER intended to become the collectibles they have subsequently become. There were less than 100 produced and the actual number might be even half of that. These models are unique for their size and rarity. They hardly ever come up for sale anymore, on Ebay or anywhere else.

Do not let a truly minor notation stop your heart or your sense. This Prowler is rare as is everything else in this set and will increase in value as time goes by, just like the actual Prowler itself. It will probably be several years before I offer this set up again.

Can't say I agree with the value not being affected. I have 2 of these ponds and mine are complete with mirrors, rear view mirror, and wipers. I also have several of these same cars that are attached to the base, they are not rare or unusual. I am not home to look but I think they are Universal Hobbies cars. If I'm wrong someone chime in here. I just don't understand how anyone can make a statement claiming the value will not be affected. How can anyone possibly know that? A collectible is only worth what someone is willing to pay for it, if it is damaged or incomplete it could be very possible that the value will be affected, at least to some people, me for one. JMO! Until I posted here that the mirror was missing it wasn't disclosed the car had missing parts, makes me wonder why but that is probably just me. Why not disclose that up front and let buyers know. If I buy a collectible and it doesn't state it is an incomplete or damaged item, I expect it to arrive in the condition it was intended to be, not with broken or missing parts. My wife says I am a fanatic about the items in my Prowler collection. Maybe I am but I feel like in order for most items to be worth anything in the future it needs to be complete. I still believe and always have, never buy a collectible hoping it will increase in value, buy it because you like it and will get enjoyment out of owning it. Again JMO!
