Actually Dale is credited with the initial idea of using magnets to hold the ball joint caps on in this thread: http://www.prowleronline.com/ubb/Forum1/HTML/022130.html

"IF you have an original cap that the retainer has been broken during removal, MAYBE it would be possible to break off the other tab and install a magnet with a pre made hole in the center of it which may hold it in place". I posted that reply as a result of knowing another owner that had installed "Neon" upper ball joints in their Kat and needed a solution to hold the stock cap in place. The important thing here is that we all share idea's and the job at hand gets done and we can all benefit from that. This message has been edited by alrtg on 05-31-2014 at 08:03 PM |

I stand corrected. It was Andia who first proposed the use of magnets to hold the ball joint cap in place. But you are right, Andria. The important thing is that we are all magnetized on the idea. If we keep this up, we just might get some health benefits from owning a prowler: This message has been edited by beachcat on 05-31-2014 at 08:43 PM |

quote: I got a set of the caps in today's mail and am very impressed with the overall product. I had a couple small thoughts which I sent to ZPROWLER2000. The magnet idea works well and it takes quite an effort to remove them once installed. I don't think they would have any issues staying put while driving down the road. One of the best things is that there are no tabs to break off when removing the caps. I even think these might be a good solution for the rear lower ball joints as well. Should there be sufficient interest in these and they were to make it to market, I anticipate everyone would be very happy with the product. I will be in Carlisle PA. for the Chrysler's at Carlisle event in July on Friday and Saturday if anyone would like to examine the set I have close up and in person. |
