I USE EARTH MAGNETS RIGHT NOW I HAVE BEEN EXPERIMENTING WITH ONE STRONG MAGNET AND ONE WEAKER MAGNET,YOU CAN PULL IT OFF BY HAND WITH SOME FORCE,I DROVE MY PROWLER OVER BUMPS AND NO PROBLEM,I ALSO HAVE ASET WITH 2 STRONG MAGNETS AND YOU CAN'T GET THEM OFF BY HAND,YOU NEED TOO PRY THEM OFF WITH SCREWDRIVER OR A PLASTIC DOOR PANEL TOOL,BUT I'M AFRAID IF PEOPLE PRY THEM OFF THE MIGHT SCRATCH THE CAP OR THE CONTROL ARM.I KNOW THE ORIGINAL PLASTIC CAP HAS TOO BE PRYED OFFSO THATS MY DILEMA RIGHT NOW,I'M LEANING MORE TOWARDS THE 2 STRONG MAGNETS,

Magnets huh? Interesting concept. Simple yet innovative!

It's like free energy.

I remember seeing magnets used on the Prowler somewhere else.

Actually Dale is credited with the initial idea of using magnets to hold the ball joint caps on in this thread:

Look at the post just above Dale's reply. I think he was responding to that post.

"IF you have an original cap that the retainer has been broken during removal, MAYBE it would be possible to break off the other tab and install a magnet with a pre made hole in the center of it which may hold it in place".

I posted that reply as a result of knowing another owner that had installed "Neon" upper ball joints in their Kat and needed a solution to hold the stock cap in place.

The important thing here is that we all share idea's and the job at hand gets done and we can all benefit from that.

I stand corrected. It was Andia who first proposed the use of magnets to hold the ball joint cap in place.

But you are right, Andria. The important thing is that we are all magnetized on the idea.

If we keep this up, we just might get some health benefits from owning a prowler:

I really don't recall exactly why it was that I was attracted to the idea but is held on and wouldn't let go.

I got a set of the caps in today's mail and am very impressed with the overall product.

I had a couple small thoughts which I sent to ZPROWLER2000.

The magnet idea works well and it takes quite an effort to remove them once installed. I don't think they would have any issues staying put while driving down the road.

One of the best things is that there are no tabs to break off when removing the caps. I even think these might be a good solution for the rear lower ball joints as well.

Should there be sufficient interest in these and they were to make it to market, I anticipate everyone would be very happy with the product.

I will be in Carlisle PA. for the Chrysler's at Carlisle event in July on Friday and Saturday if anyone would like to examine the set I have close up and in person.
