I was on the fence on whether or not to run my Prowler at the track yesterday. I met a bunch of guys from the Corvette Forum there. I didnt want to run the Vette due to I'm trying to sell it... So with 650 miles on the clock I took the Kat for two passes.... The 1st it was 64* and the car was warm... 14.82 at 91.28 The 2nd knocked my socks off... It was an hour between runs so it was nearly cold and temp dropped to 58*... Hows a 14.69 at 91.39 for a stock just broken in 01'.... I parked it after that and watched. I'm glad I did make a couple passes. It ran better then I thought it would. Oh, and the Vette guys werent that impressed with the Prowler.... Thats ok, I wasnt that impressed with their weak times in their heavily modded Vettes... Take Care! ------------------ This message has been edited by C5 Frank on 02-28-2002 at 08:23 AM |

Wild one I know, but they were running high 12's with cars with ported heads cam ect. The few times I ran my C5 it ran 12.60's - 12.70's all day with nothing more then an airbox and a cat-back. With the cool air my Vette might have even went quicker. I guess I'm over the Vette thing... ------------------ |

Nice Frank!! I've been wondering what an 01 would do stock. I know mine sure seems quick, and now with the cold air I notice a big difference. Have you had yours dynoed? Thanks, MadMikey :{> ------------------ |

C5- Those are some great times. The fastest all STOCK Prowler times at the Texas Speed Weekend event last year were 14.86 I beleive. Laddie will be able to confirm this. We had two Kats that were close...14.86 & 14.87 I have finally got mine to 14.17 with Prowler Pro Gears and Intake and Custom Exhaust, but it does seem these later Kats are somewhat faster than the older ones. JMO Keep up the good work. ------------------ |

LOL weren't that impressed. Cruise to the beach or down the coast next to a Vette and see how impressed they'll be when EVERYONE is looking at your Prowler while completely dismissing the Vette as typical sedan. Don't get me wrong I love Vettes and other horse hungry cars but for sheer class and exotica the Prowler is tops. Even if we can't compete in the 1/4 with most Sports cars of equivalent pricing. =P |

Paul. That's close... Dave F. 14.87 & 92.4 mph These were all pure stock. And, Dave had held the record for World's fastest Stock Prowler until C5 Frank's new time... Your times are great with gears & CAI... That's the fastest I've seen for gears & close to stock... Rich, you'll luv it... C5 Frank. I sent you an email with a link to checkout some vette stuff... |

Thanks everyone for you comments. I had no idea how quick that was. I didnt realize it was the quickest pass for a stocker. WOW!! Now you guys got me thinking there might be another tenth in there after trying different techniques. Well not before a few more miles though. Thanks again!!! ------------------ |

PaulR, When did you run a 14.17? Also, exactly what exhaust mods did you do? With that kind of time, you can take most V-8's. ------------------ |

Thats a pretty nice pass there. I know when my 01 Orange was all stock i took it to the track in the spring time when the temps were about 55 degrees and i ran a 14.49 @ 94mph. That was all stock. But as the summer grew on i took it out on a hot 80 degree night and only ran a 14.8 Now, even with gears, intake, exhaust i am only running a best of 14.47 @ 95mph. I can easily cut 1.99 60 foot times all day long. But with my mods even in the heat i can still run about 14.55 - 14.65 IF i can ever get the permits for my nitrous system then we can really see what is going on :-) Oh yeah, dont bother dynoing it you will just get depressed. With the mopar exhaust and MTD intake i only put out 175HP and the temps were in the 90s. I just still cant believe that a prowler loses 78HP just through the driveline. I also think there is something tricky about the g-tech in a prowler. I have also run 14.1s with all my mods and i have yet to see anything that close at the track. ------------------ Amsoil Engine and Tranny Fluid This message has been edited by fortknox82 on 03-13-2002 at 04:14 PM |

Those are really good times wow!!! I think my buddies stock o1 Prowler might be right there though its putting out some pretty impresive 1/8 mile numbers and thats with a 2.0 60 ft and he's only made one pass and he did at in 9.4 sec which I think he is very capable of running about a 14.6 or 7 on a pretty day. I just hope he keeps it stock long enough to find out. Paul you know him he has the silver prowler.I did a 9.3 and I am bone stock with only gears. We'll see Friday if I can get into the 7.s I cannot wait. ------------------ |
