How do I wash, dry, and care for the cloth top? I have never owned a convertible and need some advice. I couldn't find anything in the owners manual. Any advice will be appreciated!

Buckaneer --

I had the same question some time ago. Todd and several others suggested 303 products.

I just did our kat last weekend. I used the 303 Fabric/Vinyl Convertible Top Cleaner then applied the 303 High Tech Fabric Guard. Just follow the directions on the bottles. Looks great and works great. Unfortunately I did it on a windy day and spent a goodly amount of time cleaning up the fabric guard overspray (won't make that mistake again). I am more than pleased with the results. It looks even better than a brand new top.

You can buy it online at http://www.303products.com/ or you can use the web site to find a local dealer.

Hope this helps.

I've not personally used the 303, but the guys who use it rave about it. Make sure you get the fabric gaurd if you get the 303 stuff. I understand they make other products with almost the same bottles. What I do is simply wet the top down good with water, take soapy water made with Simple Green, SOFT brush, lightly scrub with LOTS o bubbles, rinse throughly, and wipe off extra water and then let sun dry. Brings them back nice and black, but I understand with 303 you see water bead away.

Debbie Angell (Catwoman) uses the 303 product on the top of her '97 daily driver, and it looks better than many of the newer, weekend driver cats. JMO

I just used 303 products last week. It is well worth the money. The cleaner really works and the protectant will make your top bead water like a freshly waxed car.

Hey, Buck....,

I'm about to mine based on the consolidated wisdom from this site. You should ask Black Tie 161 what he thinks (he actually carries around a bottle of water around to demonstrate how the beads bounce on the 303'd top).

Back to consolidated wisdom:

1. I'm spreading towels over the paint and the glass to keep the 303 High Tech Fabric Guard contained to the top

2. 303 Vinyl/Fabric cleaner first

3. Extra application on seams and around edges to prevent seepage/leaks

4. Don't forget to treat the rubber seals (one choice is 303 Aerospace Protectant rather than Fabric Guard, you can find other recommendations here as well)

5. Semi-related, lint-rollers work well for the fuzzies.

Good luck.

If you want multiple 303 products (Aerospace Protectant, High-Tech Fabric Guard, Vinyl/Fabric Convertible Top Cleaner) you can take advantage of "combo" pricing and reduced shipping charges. Take a look at my economic order quantity analysis at:
http://www.prowleronline.com/ubb/Forum1/HTML/008258.html

For single products, Camping World's $1.00 shipping is hard to beat. Info in same post as above.

303 all the way!!

You can watch the water bead and bounce on the top....helps prevent side window leakage too.

Great stuff!

I avoid overspray by laying towels all around the car
