Lets not all forget, WayNew did say "Rumor". Mike, If I can take my Kat (Super Charger and headers and Gears) to your place and get it put on the dyno for no charge, I would like to make the same claim. It is very nice of you to help verify these type of rumors..... If its true, then everyone needs to check the classifieds ...."One Paxton Supercharger/paxton headers for sale in exchange for "Prowler Pro headers", I will give cash to compensate fair exchange" Dan G. Waynew. Here's the link to NPR: Either Wed or Fri nights would work out. I could arrange runs for just the Prowlers. Friday may be better. Come early and I'll take you to late lunch and we could wait around the track for the Friday night races... |

Well Laddie Roussel, The race is on, y'all know this is how a rumor becomes a legend in its own time. The Problem is that I am coaching little league baseball and we have two more week or so to play depending how far we go in the playoffs. So we will have to do this in November as soon as baseball is over. I will check my calendar and come up with a date. This is going to be so great. If you want to take me up on racing at the police academy in Houston I am still up for it after this. I would also like to race Mike Krehel at the police academy with his fastest prowler. |

Waynew. Outstanding. That works for me. The weather will be getting better in November... I'm on my way to NY/CT for next two weeks (leaving this Thursday). We're both close enough we can make sure weather is good... Good luck in the playoffs. And, I'll be there whenever your schedule permits... Now, if Dean would ever finish the other two Louisiana Kats they could come out and have some fun... Check the track drag race schedule at: http://www.noproblemraceway.com/npr/drag_schedule.htm There's two Saturdays that might work. The Turkey Drags on Fri & Sat. Christmas Drags & party on Fri & Sat. |

Waynew, is this system available through one of the on- site (POA) venders. At the risk of sounding even less informed...does straight pipe mean w/o mufflers of any type? How loud are then when just cruising? Keep us informed of your dyno results. Great pics and thanks for the post. Craig |

Marty Usher: You say the WESTECH's were 12hp at rear wheels BETTER than the Paxton Headers? This must mean that you see somewhere around 25hp AT THE REAR WHEELS over a stock set-up. Can that be? What do you run for a muffler/tips? How much then for the WESTECH headers? Are they less than ProwlerPro's? You say they are "custom". Do they not sell them commercially? I love the idea of getting rid of the cats and the related heat. Perhaps the headers are accounting for half of the horsepower increases you are claiming and the lack of engine compartment heat is making up the remainder of the HP gain??? |

quote: Kurtis - I never dynoed my car with stock exhaust manifolds but I don't belive the Paxton shorty headers were good for 13 HP. My car was dynoed with the Paxton shorty headers Part of my increase in HP may be due to way the headers open up the exhaust to make my engine mods more efficient - cams, heads, valves, new pistons, etc. A stock engine may or may not increase as much - that is why you should wait for same day dyno results on a stock kat. Craig, straightpipes are pipes with or without catalytic converters and no mufflers, with or without baffles in the tips. I left the cats and baffles on and it is rather loud but I don't mind it. Of course I am old and have some hearing loss. Others might think it is too loud. Only you can decide if you like it. I like it. I wish I would have gotten an X pipe and may do that shortly. |

Thanks Ed, went to muffler shop yesterday, considering 24" glass packs (I want to keep some of my hearing intact) with x-pipe or loose the cats and come off the exhaust flanges into an x-pipe with vortex tip, similar to prowler pro, then go into the 24" glass packs. Depending on how loud they are, will determine type of tips needed (open or baffled). I have heard people mention removal of the baffles out of the prowler exhaust. Is that in the tips or muffler. How is that done? Thanks, Craig. |

The baffles are in the very rearmost section of the exhaust system. If you look at them you will see either 3 or 4 rivets on the "tips" or cans, (toward the front of the car.) You can use a dremel tool or a drill and drill out the rivet and then pull out the baffles. You may need to use a punch to push the rivet all the way out. |

Judy, I have explained to Wayne that when we talk about "racing" it is not on a SCCA course. I also said that there was no way Mike thought it was that type of racing and I thought he would not be interested. Wayne seems to believe that because he beat me in the road course, stock against stock, and we all know that on those courses it is 80% driver and 20% car. Now I have explained that if he should want to put his Kat on a 1/4 mile track, where it is racing at its best, I'd be more than happy to see how much he beats me by then. Of course I don't think "winning" is when your in the rearview mirror. I feel certain that what Laddie was talking about also was the No Problem Raceway 1/4 mile strip... My Black is still the second fastest Prowler in Texas behind Mike's Black. Please do correct me if I'm wrong on that statement. His Blue stroker hasn't run yet that I'm aware of. So Wayne, bring on the Yellow and don't bring your lunch 'cause we won't be there that long!! hehehe ------------------ |
